Wren is a bright little spaniel who is slowly beginning to explore life beyond the puppy farm environment she has known for so long. After spending her early years being used for breeding, she is now looking for a home where she can finally feel safe, understood, and truly cared for.
Like many dogs from this background, Wren places a lot of value on things that are “hers.” She has shown some resource guarding behaviours around high-value items such as food and toys. This is very likely due to her past, where resources would have been limited, so she will need an experienced owner who understands this behaviour and can manage it appropriately while continuing to build her trust.
Wren takes comfort from other dogs so it is essential that she is rehomed with another dog in the home. It is important that this dog does not display any guarding behaviours themselves, and is able to listen well, helping to provide Wren with guidance and reassurance without creating conflict around resources. Wren’s new owners will need to be able to read the interactions between the two dogs, and separate them at feeding times.
She is still learning about the world and may find new experiences overwhelming at first, so will need a patient home that can give her time to settle and build confidence at her own pace. As she begins to feel more secure, her sweet and affectionate spaniel personality will start to come through!
Wren would be best suited to an adult only household, where she can learn love and trust at her own pace.
She will need an experienced owner, ideally someone familiar with spaniels and their traits, who can recognise and work with her behaviours in a positive and consistent way.
Are you the special person who can give Wren the understanding and security she needs to truly settle and thrive?
