This adorable little chap is Reo, our six month old Collie puppy!
Reo’s been in foster for a little while so we thought it was best to get his foster family to write his bio!
“Hello! The name they have given me here is Reo, which I quite like, so I am starting to answer to it. For some reason that absolutely nobody can work out, my previous humans abandoned me. And they left me underfed too. But I have met some other great humans during fostering and they have all told me that they find me adorable. They’re right, I am. I’m the best! I love meeting new humans. I do it all the time when we’re out. I just shuffle up to them, wag my tail, perhaps sit down in front of them, and they all say ‘Awww’ and give me a cuddle, which is great.
I love travelling by car, because I just sit in my basket, have a little nap, and wake up somewhere nice to do something fun. I also don’t mind staying in the car snoozing for an hour or so on my own while human things are sorted out that don’t need my help.
I have mastered how to walk my human on a lead with no problem – in fact at the moment I quite like to have them close at paw while I’m discovering new things. Some days I enjoy having a really good sniff around when I’m out, to investigate my surroundings. While I have been on the lead walking around recently I have encountered many other types of dogs, and I’m cool with them. I don’t bark at them or embarrass my human friend by behaving badly. Sometimes I will have a little nose sniff with them if they seem alright, but otherwise I tend to just get on with where I’m going.
Errr, well, there is one exception which is, I confess, that I cannot stand Rottweilers, they do set me off – it all goes back to when I was in kennels with three of those brutes.
I don’t waste energy getting excited when I bump into cats, but I have to admit that I am fascinated by those little critters called ‘squirrels’; oh, I could watch them for hours, and I would chase them if I could, with their flicky bushy tails and their hopping around like they own the place.
I have heard it said that some of my border collie cousins can be a bit, well you know, intense and ‘wired’. I am not one of those crazy dudes. But I am an active lad, so when I am not out walking I like to keep busy at home by working out playing with a tennis ball on the floor (or a padel ball will do if you’re into trendy new sports), or with other toys and games.
I would like to move in full-time with someone who knows about border collies, as that would mean we could cut out some of the ‘getting to know you’ stuff and move straight on to having a great time together. I will show you how clever I am and give you collie love, you can take care of the activity planning, and we’ll take it from there.
While I don’t wish to end on a downer, can I just add that I really am not interested in anyone who is just looking for a handsome lap dog. I have the body of an athlete and the brain of a rocket scientist, both of which need to be kept finely tuned.
Thanks for reading this.”
Ideal home: Active / Working home
Dogs: Could live with an older similar sized dog or be the only dog in the home
Cats: So far Reo seems accepting to cats but we are not able to assess him fully
Children: Reo could live with children 12+
Could you give Reo the home he deserves?
