Meet Dax: our longest-staying resident
This is Dax, who has been waiting for his forever home for over 150 days.
Dax came into our care as a stray after being abandoned by his previous owner. Despite such a difficult start, he is an affectionate boy who loves cuddles, walks through open fields and playing with his doggy friends here at the centre.
After being left in the countryside, Dax can feel a little unsure when first meeting new people. But he quickly realises that he’s safe, his confidence grows and his loving, soft nature shines through. He settles well and enjoys human company, especially with those who take a calm, kind approach.
At just 3 years old, Dax still has plenty of energy and would love a home with access to a secure area nearby where he can run and stretch his legs, something he truly loves. He gets on very well with other dogs of a similar size and enjoys zooming around the paddocks with them. As a sighthound, Unfortunately, Dax would not be suitable to live with cats or very small dogs due to natural prey drive of the breed.
We feel Dax would thrive in a calm, adult-only home with someone who understands sighthound breeds and their quirks, including their love of comfort! (Sharing the sofa will be a must, Dax will happily make himself at home!)
Sadly, Dax has been overlooked for far too long. As a black lurcher, he blends into the background and is so often passed by, even though he has so much love to give. He is not a “problem dog”, just one who needs someone willing to look beyond first impressions.
Dax deserves the same chance as every other dog, a home where he feels safe, loved and truly part of a family. 150 days is far too long for such a kind, special boy to be waiting.
Weight: 24kg
Could you be the one to see Dax for who he really is and offer him the second chance he so deserves?
