Ice is a lovely boy who is searching for his new home after his owner couldn’t manage his behaviour. He needs an experienced home, ideally someone with experience training a high drive working dog.
He’s confident now in new places and around new people, but was a little unsure at first and would grab at new people coats, gloves etc. Not in an aggressive way just in a really overstimulated ‘I need to put something in my mouth’.
He gets hyper fixated and prey items like joggers and cyclists, but the training seems to be moving in the right direction and isn’t as bad now as originally.
Around other dogs he can be very excitable and boisterous and go in all blazing to play without any thought for self-preservation or the bum sniffing/social behaviour first. However, we haven’t seen any aggression and he’s now good as gold with Brody (a very neutral male GSD) who he’s largely neutral around and doesn’t really bother with.
Around new people he can be cautious, but with experienced people, once he’s had a few treats he’s fine, and with the people in his inner circle is incredibly affectionate and loving. He will never be a dog that will be able to be 100% trustworthy around new people, and there will likely always be an air of unpredictability about his behaviour. But with an experienced home he’ll make a great and incredibly loving dog.
He is good in his crate and will settle overnight but does need to be bribed in with treats. If fed out of a bowl he can show resource guarding, but this seems to be limited to the bowl only, and hasn’t shown any of this behaviour around food from the hand/enrichment/toys etc.
He has super food and toy drive and has been on an existential feeding programme. We haven’t seen him around kids but due to his initial cautious behaviour he could potentially live with children of 15+ years pending suitable meet and greets.
Overall, he is a very high drive full on working dog and needs to go to a working or service home. He wouldn’t suit pet life and needs a job. With the right person he’d make a great service or working dog.
